Many businesses today relay on the power of the internet to spread the word around about their products and services, from the multi million dollar big players to the small business entrepreneur, all of them want to get bite on the large customer market out there using the internet. And who could blame them? The world as of to date has been revolving in a frenzy of information sharing at lightning speeds using the internet that unprecedented in the history of man. And one very appealing ways to get the word around about your business is through social networking. Although designed to get people to stay in touch with one another, social networking sites are very attractive to businesses because of its often free services. That is why, there is a slowly developing disease in the internet, and that is having just too many pushy sales pitches in what should be an friendly social site.
I’ve seen facebook accounts promoting products and posting products in my wall, re twit overkills to get people to visit their website links, friendster accounts made to get you to buy a product you may as well get in a convenience store, and spam from multiply users marketing underwear and lingerie. I tell you, as much as you want to be polite and understanding, it can definitely get into your nerves sometimes.
But they can be informative as well, like when I read in a social site an article about how important getting the proper insurance for Macbook can be and doing so may save you hundreds if not thousands of pounds. Since I got my Macbook air for only 4 months now, I learned from that site that I could still get my Macbook insurance for an affordable price. If I had not seen that site, I would not have known how that I cannot insure Macbook after 6 months.
So getting the word out there through social networks is understandable looking from a business man’s standpoint. But over do it and it could be quite annoying. Understand and respect each others space doesn’t only apply in the real world but in the virtual world as well. Get your product and service known through these popular social networking sites but don’t over do it, or else you maybe famous too only to branded as a wretched pushy sales person.
