Things you need to consider when attempting to play PS2 games on your laptop.

Although today, Sony Playstation 2 consoles are already very affordable, when it was first introduced in the market, many PC gamers attempted to enjoy the best of both worlds by trying to play their PS2 DVD games on their laprtops and desktops by using an “emulator” which is a program that allows your PC to recognize and run a PS2 game.

This program is basically making your laptop “emulate” or imitate a PS2 console, and in more practical terms, its like asking you PC to behave like a Playstation so you can force run a game that was not designed for it in the first place. It was an exiting concept, but there are certain risks involved in doing so that one may think twice before allowing his computer be used for gaming that may ultimately damage your PC.   But if you do have a DVD-ROM and an adequate emulator in your PC, then you should be able to play PS2 games.

But then again, enjoying this feature, if you want to use the word ‘enjoying’ to describe being able to play a game that would probably have played better if you just used the original console, these ‘emulators’ come with a risk attached. These programs are commonly written by game enthusiasts and are untested on wide ranges of computer hardware. You may find one that works for you, but you may find one that doesn’t work at all on your system or even worse, cause problems to your beloved PC!

And if you plan to use a laptop to play with those games and upload an emulator there and you are thinking that your coverage with laptop insurance will save you in case your laptop crashes, think twice before doing it. Insurance for laptop does cover damages due to accidents and even damages caused by liquids to the worst thing that may happen, and that is you actually lose your laptop or somebody stole it from you.

If your have laptop insurance, you can claim for a replacement, but if it suffered an unrecoverable crash because of a silly emulator program, I don’t think you could claim for a replacement or even a simple reimbursement from the repair you might need to fix to your laptop.

So just a word of advice, give to cesar what is due to cesar and play those PS2 games where you are suppose to be playing them on, which is the PS2 console and spare your laptop or desktop abuse from a software that makes it think its a kids’ console for you to play around with.
