We know of people being infected by a virus and getting sick, but a human getting infected by a computer virus? Come on, you must be kidding. I wish I am, but this futuristic threat is something we must be really concerned about, but not at the moment anyway. In the future, it is being seen that people maybe implanted with miniature computer chip called RFID Chips that has a variety of uses and many of them are in actual use already today as prototypes of what will eventually come.
In an advance facility where access must be restricted, key employees maybe implanted with a RFID chip so when they enter a restricted part of a building, the security artificial intelligence will recognize him and give him access. Then when they are in the restricted area, for them to use specialized equipment, the RFID will be detected by the computer or machine they would want to operate and will again give them access but block and deny any one with out that specific RFID chip. Implanted organs such as a heart implant, neuro implants to the brain, etc. may use RFID technology to control and modify their functions. With such a variety of usage, this implant technology is slowly coming to our society.
And since the chip is simply a miniature computer inside your body, what happens if this chip that is controlling your hearts rhythmic pumping or you hand and feet coordination get a computer virus? That seems a scary thought but it can happen, according to experts.
Presently, in my fear that my Mac might get infected and I spend a lot of money getting it repaired if it does, I pushed myself to get a Macbook insurance cover. Some policies of insurance for Macbook can cover your Mac from virus attack but just be sure to ask your Macbook insurance professional for details. It’s a good thing that we can get some kind of insurance today in case our laptop might get damaged by a powerful virus that can wipe your entire Mac’s memory, but in the future and your implanted chip gets infected, I just hope that there will be an insurance cover that they will develop once we step in the next era of technology. Yes, advancements can be beneficial but expect that in any advancement, there will be threats and challenges. We just have to simply balance if the benefits if it will out weigh the potential risks and all will be tolerable if indeed these benefits are desirable.
